THIS RESEARCH REPORT WAS MADE WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF MY INTERNSHIP AT BOMBARDIER FOR THE GLOBAL 7000/8000 SERIES PRIVATE JET PROGRAM.


THE GOAL WAS TO DESIGN A STATEROOM (BEDROOM). PROBLEM STATEMENT WAS: HOW DO YOU SLEEP IN THE SKIES? 
 







DURING A 6 MONTH PERIOD, I SET OUT TO FIRST UNDERSTAND THE USER AND THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE WITH SLEEPING IN AN AIRCRAFT. CHALLENGES BECAME CLEAR SUCH AS CABIN PRESSURE, SOUND, ALTITUDE, MATTRESS, OR THE SHEER FACT THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO LIE DOWN IN A MOVING VEHICULE.

ALL ASPECTS OF SLEEPING WAS RESEARCHED AND SOLUTIONS WERE SELECTED TO FIT WITHIN THE PARAMETER OF A PLANE.



















RESEARCH WAS COMPLEXED WITH ASPECT OF THE HUMAN BODY AND THE AIRCRAFT HAD TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION. FOR EXAMPLE, SEARCHING IDEAL DECIBEL LEVEL FOR SLEEPING AND HOW DOES THAT MANIFEST ITSELF WITH A MACHINE EQUIPPED WITH ROARING ENGINES. OR FURTHERMORE, LOOKING INTO THE EAR BIOLOGY TO UNDERSTAND HOW PRESSURE WOULD AFFECT IT. THEN FINDING A SOLUTION THAT WOULD ACCOMMODATE BOTH THE USER AND STILL BE ABLE TO BE PHYSICALLY ACHIEVED ON AN AIRCRAFT.
